Our one-number rank for every Top-25 team. We blend the AP and Coaches polls (and D1Baseball for baseball) into a single Sideline Composite — the closest thing to a true consensus. Final 2025 rankings shown now; 2026 preseason predictions land in August.

About the Sideline Composite
The Sideline Composite is the average of each team’s rank across the two largest weekly polls for its sport — the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll for football, the AP and USA Today Coaches Poll for men’s basketball, and the D1Baseball.com Top 25 for college baseball. Ties are broken by total poll points (the same vote totals the AP and coaches release each week).
Why blend them? Both polls vote separately and disagree more often than fans realize — the average gives a cleaner read on national consensus than either one alone, especially for the 11–25 range where they often diverge by 3–5 spots.
In-season, this page updates twice daily, automatically pulling the latest published poll. During the off-season we show the final post-season ranking until preseason polls release in August.
