The Sideline tracks every player in the 2025–26 transfer portal. Searchable, ranked, and downloadable as CSV or JSON. Filter by team, position, and rating. Compare portal classes across all FBS, FCS, and lower-division programs.
Use the Top Destinations tab to rank which programs are bringing in the most incoming transfers, and the Top Origins tab to see which programs are losing the most. Filter by 4★+ players to see only the highest-rated transfers. All data is free and downloadable.
Transfer Portal FAQ
The primary FBS transfer portal window opens December 8, 2025 and runs through January 2, 2026 (26 days). A secondary spring window runs April 16–25, 2026. Graduate transfers can enter at any time.
Portal classes are ranked by the Portal Index Score — a composite of incoming player count, average rating, and incoming NIL value, minus outgoing talent. See the live rankings above; the leaderboard updates as transfers are added through the spring window.
No. Since the NCAA's 2024 unlimited transfer rule, athletes can transfer schools and play immediately, with no required year in residence — regardless of how many times they have previously transferred.
NIL has fundamentally reshaped the transfer portal. Programs with larger NIL budgets and revenue-share allocations consistently land the top portal classes. Many transfers cite NIL offers as a primary reason for moving — making the transfer portal effectively a free-agent market.
Portal Index Score is The Sideline's composite metric that combines net gain/loss in player count, average 247-style rating of incoming transfers, and incoming NIL value into a single number — making it easy to compare program-level portal performance year-over-year.
